Best New Life Shelter

The story of Best New Life Shelter (BNLS) began in 2003, with a mother's profound love. When her son was diagnosed with severe disabilities (spastic tetraparesis caused by meningitis), Catherine Inbarajan founded BNLS to ensure he and other children like him would have access to the care, dignity, and opportunities they deserved.

Located in Arcot, a rural area in the Ranipet District of Tamil Nadu, India, BNLS provides therapy, education, and support for children and young adults with a range of challenges, including:

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Autism spectrum disorder

  • Down syndrome

  • Intellectual disabilities

  • Multiple disabilities

For over two decades, BNLS has welcomed more than 250 children into its care, offering not only therapy and education but also a safe, nurturing space where they can grow, learn, and belong.

For many children, BNLS has been the only place of hope and inclusion — a place where they are embraced without barriers of caste, creed, or background. Through its work, BNLS has:

  • Created a space for children to grow, learn, and live meaningful lives filled with care and acceptance

  • Provided essential therapy and medical support

  • Created opportunities for education and socialization

  • Assisted families in obtaining disability certificates and government subsidies

  • Helped children build confidence, independence, and dignity

Today, Best New Life Shelter continues to be a beacon of hope, empowering children with special needs to live meaningful lives filled with care, acceptance, and opportunity.
